Why I Am Starting This Blog
My name is Peter Wickham, and this is my very first blog post online.
I decided to start this blog because I want to document my journey as I learn more about affiliate marketing and building an online business. I am not writing this as an expert, and I am definitely not pretending to have all the answers yet.
In fact, one of the reasons I wanted to start blogging is because I know there are other people out there who feel exactly like I did a few weeks ago. Interested in making money online, but completely overwhelmed by all the different advice, systems, tools, and opportunities.
Everywhere you look, somebody is telling you to do something different.
- One person says build a YouTube channel.
- Another says run paid ads.
- Another says create your own product.
After a while… it becomes hard to know where to even begin.
I finally realized that instead of trying to learn everything at once, I just needed a clear starting point and a simple process to follow.
That is what led me to affiliate marketing and eventually to The ClickBank Profit Club.
Why I Chose Affiliate Marketing
One of the reasons affiliate marketing stood out to me is because it seems like one of the simplest ways to get started online. This step-by-step affiliate marketing guide explains the process in more detail.
Instead of creating my own products, handling customer support, or dealing with complicated setups right away, affiliate marketing allows me to focus on learning how to promote products and connect with people who are interested in them.
As a beginner, that made a lot more sense to me.
I also liked the fact that affiliate marketing gives me the chance to learn real online business skills along the way. Things like content creation, email marketing, list building, and traffic generation are skills that can be useful long term.
At first, I thought affiliate marketing was mostly about posting links and hoping people clicked on them.
But the more I started learning, the more I realized there is a smarter way to approach it.
I learned that many beginners make the mistake of sending traffic directly to offers without collecting leads or building any kind of long-term asset. It is one of several affiliate marketing mistakes beginners should avoid. That means if somebody visits once and leaves, the opportunity to follow up with them is gone.
That was a big shift in thinking for me.
Why List Building Matters
One of the biggest things I have learned so far is how important it is to build an email list.
From what I understand now, the list becomes an asset you actually control.
- Social media platforms can change.
- Traffic sources can change.
But if somebody joins your email list, you have a way to continue following up, building trust, and sharing useful information with them over time.
That made a lot more sense to me than simply sending traffic directly to random affiliate offers and hoping for quick results.
I started realizing that the real value is not just in getting clicks. It is in building relationships and creating a long-term business foundation.
I also like the idea of building a list while promoting a proven system at the same time.
That approach feels more practical and more sustainable to me as a beginner.
Instead of constantly starting from scratch, I feel like I am actually building something that can grow over time if I stay consistent and keep learning.
Why I Joined The ClickBank Profit Club
After looking at different opportunities and training programs, I decided to join The ClickBank Profit Club because it seemed much more beginner-friendly than a lot of the other things I came across.
What stood out to me was the focus on simplicity, list building, and follow-up instead of trying to do everything at once.
I also liked that the system includes training, a setup process, follow-up emails, and a clearer path for beginners who may not know what to do first.
As somebody who is just getting started, having some structure and guidance makes a huge difference.
Another thing that gave me confidence was learning about John Thornhill and his experience in the online business world. He has been involved with ClickBank and affiliate marketing for many years, and The ClickBank Profit Club is built around the idea of helping people build their lists while learning affiliate marketing properly.
At the same time, I want to be realistic.
I do not see this as a magic solution or a get-rich-quick system.
I understand that learning these skills takes time, effort, consistency, and patience. There are no guarantees, and I know I will probably (definitely) make mistakes along the way.
But for the first time, I feel like I actually have a clearer direction instead of jumping from one idea to another.
And honestly, that alone feels like progress.
What I Will Be Doing Next
Right now, my focus is on learning the basics properly and taking consistent action.
I plan to keep learning about:
-
- ClickBank affiliate marketing
- Building an email list
- Creating helpful content
- Traffic generation
- Email follow-up
- Growing an online business step by step
I also want to use this blog to share what I learn along the way.
That means I will be posting updates about what is working, what I am struggling with, and what I discover as I continue building this journey.
My hope is that other beginners who feel overwhelmed can follow along and maybe learn something useful too.
I think there is value in learning publicly (mmm 🤔🫨) and being honest about the process instead of pretending everything is perfect.
Frequently Asked Questions About Starting Affiliate Marketing
Is affiliate marketing suitable for complete beginners?
Affiliate marketing can be suitable for beginners because you do not need to create your own products, manage stock or provide customer support. Instead, you can focus on learning how to create helpful content, attract visitors and recommend relevant products. However, it still requires patience, consistent effort and a willingness to learn new online business skills.
Do I need to create my own product for affiliate marketing?
No, you do not need to create your own product. Affiliate marketing allows you to promote products or services created by another business and earn a commission when someone purchases through your affiliate link. This can make it a simpler starting point for beginners who are not ready to develop and support their own products.
Why is building an email list important for affiliate marketers?
An email list gives you a way to stay connected with people after they leave your website. You can use email to share helpful information, build trust and introduce relevant products over time. Unlike a social media following, your email list is an audience asset that you have greater control over as your online business develops.
What skills do beginners need to learn for affiliate marketing?
Beginners should gradually learn content creation, email marketing, list building, traffic generation and audience communication. You do not need to master every skill before starting. Choose one clear process, learn the basics and improve through practice. Taking consistent action is usually more helpful than continually changing strategies or trying to learn everything at once.
Does ClickBank Profit Club guarantee that I will make money?
No, ClickBank Profit Club does not guarantee commissions or income. It provides training, guidance and a structured process for learning affiliate marketing and building an email list. Your results will depend on factors such as your effort, consistency, traffic, communication and ability to apply what you learn. It should be viewed as a starting framework rather than a get-rich-quick solution.
